Terms of Service
Effective date: June 19, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of ThreadDetect, a service operated by Prashant Anand, a sole proprietor in Japan (“ThreadDetect,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By creating an account, subscribing to ThreadDetect, or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
ThreadDetect monitors publicly available Hacker News discussions and uses automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to identify discussions that may be relevant to your product. It may send you alerts containing links, relevance explanations, and possible contribution angles.
ThreadDetect does not post or reply on your behalf. You decide whether and how to participate in any discussion and remain solely responsible for anything you publish.
2. Your account
You must provide accurate information and have the legal capacity and authority to accept these Terms. You are responsible for activity under your account and for maintaining access to the email address used to sign in.
You must notify us promptly at prashant@threaddetect.com if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
3. Information you provide
You may provide information about your product, including its website, description, audience, and the problems it solves. You retain ownership of this information.
You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to access, copy, host, analyze, summarize, and otherwise process this information only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve ThreadDetect. You represent that you have the right to provide this information and permit us to process it.
Do not submit confidential, sensitive, or regulated personal information through product-description fields.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use ThreadDetect to:
- violate any law or another person’s rights;
- spam, harass, deceive, impersonate, or unlawfully monitor anyone;
- manipulate votes, coordinate inauthentic activity, or evade platform restrictions;
- interfere with, overload, probe, or compromise the service;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract the service’s source code, models, or non-public systems, except where applicable law expressly permits it; or
- resell or provide access to the service without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe your use violates these Terms or creates a security, legal, or operational risk.
5. Hacker News and third-party services
ThreadDetect is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Hacker News or Y Combinator.
Hacker News discussions, third-party websites, and other external services are controlled by their respective operators. We are not responsible for their content, availability, policies, or actions. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and rules.
6. Automated analysis
Automated and AI-generated analysis may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your circumstances. ThreadDetect does not guarantee that an alert will be relevant, timely, or correct. You must review each alert and exercise your own judgment before acting on it.
We do not guarantee any particular number of alerts or any increase in traffic, engagement, leads, sales, reputation, or other business results.
7. Subscription and payment
ThreadDetect costs US$49 per product per month, unless a different price is clearly displayed before purchase. Applicable taxes may be added where required.
Subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically each month using your selected payment method until cancelled. Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize us and Stripe to charge the applicable subscription fees and taxes on each renewal date.
If a payment fails, we may retry the payment and suspend or terminate access until payment is received.
8. Cancellation
You may cancel at any time through the billing-management link in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and you may continue using the service until then.
Except as stated in our Refund Policy or required by law, cancellation does not result in a prorated refund or credit.
9. Refunds
Your first subscription payment is eligible for a full refund if you request it within seven calendar days after the initial charge. Renewal payments are non-refundable. Additional details appear in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
10. Our intellectual property
ThreadDetect and its software, design, branding, systems, and original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you only the limited right to use the service while your account is active.
We do not claim ownership of your product information, Hacker News posts, or third-party content.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information in connection with the service.
12. Service availability and changes
We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of ThreadDetect. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, any particular uptime, or that every relevant Hacker News discussion will be detected.
Where reasonably practical, we will provide notice before a material discontinuation of the paid service.
13. Termination
You may stop using ThreadDetect and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay fees, misuse the service, or create a security or legal risk.
After termination, provisions that by their nature should continue will survive, including provisions concerning payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and governing law.
14. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ThreadDetect is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither ThreadDetect nor Prashant Anand will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, business opportunities, goodwill, or reputation arising from or related to the service.
Our total liability arising from or related to ThreadDetect will not exceed the amount you paid for the service during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability arising from our intentional misconduct or gross negligence where applicable law prohibits such limitation.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable notice by email or through the service. The updated Terms will apply from the stated effective date. Your continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any mandatory rights under applicable law, the Tokyo District Court will have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over disputes arising from or related to these Terms or ThreadDetect.
18. General terms
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a business reorganization, merger, acquisition, or sale of the service.
